New GAMES this week: We did not receive any new games this week. However, there were so many last week that I inadvertently forgot one, Last Night On Earth, a board game of the zombie apocalypse.
It is four weeks from tomorrow until the premiere of Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, and today, we received a promotional packet from Wizards Of The Coast, which included an advance copy of H1 Keep On The Shadowfell, a new adventure for first to third level characters, as well as five sample characters (including a dragonborn paladin.) It's our first real look at the nuts and bolts of the new edition, and it looks terrific. We'll be taking full advantage of World Wide D&D Day to celebrate. Check out our EVENTS section for more info.
We have boosters, fat packs, theme decks and tournament packs for the brand new Magic The Gathering expansion set Shadowmoor, first of two in a series. We also have boosters & theme decks for Tenth Edition, Lorwyn and Morningtide, as well as boosters for Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, and Coldsnap. We still have starters and boosters for D&D minis new Dungeon of Dread set, as well as the older War Drums, Blood War, Night Below, Unhallowed and Desert of Desolation sets. We have boosters, starters and box sets for Heroclix, including DC Crisis, DC Icons, Justice League, Mutants & Marvels, Avengers, Hellboy, Invincible and Sentinels.
Also, in response to a number of customer inquiries: we will continue to carry the D&D 3.5 core books for as long as they remainavailable. We will also gladly special order any and all 3.5 expansion books (Complete Books, Monster Manuals, etc.) for as long as we can get them. Also, we're cool with folks who are running games in the store playing third edition, or older, versions of D&D or other games that we carry.
EVENTS: World Wide D&D Day: June 7, 2008. We're very excited for the upcoming release of Fourth Edition of D&D (which goes on sale the day before), and we'll be running several sessions of the new game, absolutely free, for anyone who wants to sign up. Watch this space for more details.

Featured REVIEW: 100 BULLETS, written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Eduardo Risso, ongoing with 11 volumes so far, color, paperback $9.99 to $17.99. RECOMMENDED. One day a man you’ve never seen before approaches you and offers you an attaché case. In the case are a gun, a hundred rounds of ammunition, and an envelope that contains a person’s photograph and irrefutable proof that this person is directly responsible for ruining your life. The man informs you that both the gun and the ammunition are completely untraceable, and that any police investigation into their use will stop almost as soon as it starts. What do you do?
Such is the basic premise of the Eisner-award-winning Vertigo series 100 Bullets, written by Brian Azzarello and drawn by Eduardo Risso. The books feature gripping noir tales of crime, greed, espionage, and human weakness. Fans of old film noir movies or modern crime films such as Reservoir Dogs or The Usual Suspects will definitely find something to enjoy here.
A large part of what makes the series so hard to put down is the way it deftly balances self-contained, episodic story-telling with an over-arching mystery/espionage narrative that seems to get wider in scope with each new revelation. By continually examining how new characters react to the offer of the aforementioned attaché case, the series is able to keep from getting stale. Each new situation adds new twists to the basic premise and new characters to the cast. As the series progresses, we are allowed glimpses into “how” and “why” of the premise. Who is Agent Graves, the mysterious man with the attaché cases? What is the organization he works for, or used to work for? What are their goals? These threads tie one volume to the next and will keep you coming back for more.
A perennial favorite in our Mystery/Crime section, 100 Bullets is required reading for anyone with a taste for crime drama. It will not disappoint.
