Warhammer 40,000 Assault on Blackreach Box Set $60.00

 Arriving in conjunction with the new fifth edition rulebook, the Assault on BlackreachBox Set is an exceptional package with an even more attractive price tag. At only sixty dollars, Blackreach includes an army of Orks (20 Ork Boyz, 5 Nobs, 1Warbossand 3 Deff Koptas) and an army of Space Marines (10Space Marines, 5 Terminators, 1 Space Marine Captain, and 1 Dreadnought). All of these individual models together would cost well over three hundred dollars ($300), and not only mini’s are included! Tacked on is an introductory booklet to Warhammer 40k, all required dice(including a scatter die), two rulers, both blast and flamer templates, and (brace yourself) a pocket RULEBOOK!  You know, that thing you would have paid fifty bucks for by itself? Granted the majority of the flavor text and mini galleries have been removed, but the rules themselves are intact and unabridged.

Despite its incredible value and comprehensive contents, Blackreach does have a few minor flaws.  It does not include any paint or modeling materials (though the Assault on Black Reach paint set is also a great starter value at $25.00and includes 6 paints, a brush and 6 more Space Marines) or terrain.  Also,for experienced players interested in customizing figures, every model included is nearly a complete figure,the legs, torso, head, and arms already attached in the molding process, with limited opportunity to attach a weapon or backpack. For hardcore conversionists this shouldn’t be too challenging, but for casual “cut and paste” converters, it may prove annoying.  Despite these quibbles, this remains a great package for the beginner, and even old hands will find it an economical way to stock upon Orks and Marines.
